I would have axed the fireplace too! The floors look great. I have 2 (grown) kids and pets. My home is 60 years old with original hardwood floors. I decided not to sand/refinish my floors when I moved in because I knew I would stress out over scratches. So I just waxed and buffed and look at any scratches as part of the history of the house….much less stressful.

Gorgeous hardwood floors. Those ceilings are awfully high! Congrats to Scott cool trophy. What color is the wall in the photo where your friend was on the ladder painting?

Now tell us true – is it your work in the steamy kitchen that made this financially possible? If you say yes, you’ll be giving incredible hope and a shot in the arm to countless webanatics.

Awesome property, by the way. Can you say what town you’re in?

Take good care,

TGY

Ugh, but your floor demolition depresses me. I need to rip up all my tile, and was hoping it would be easy. I knew it wouldn’t be, but you’ve just confirmed it. :)

Glad to see you made it back to Austin. Was that Callahan’s?

I love it. And the new floors are gorgeous….I’d never thought laminate would make that much of a difference on the feet and knees compared to tile.

Congratulations on the beautiful new home! I get a little homesick looking at pictures of Florida – I was born and (partly) raised there and now live in the Netherlands.

As for the laminate, we have the cheap stuff from Ikea and it’s held up beautifully through both the previous owners and almost three years of us/our girls/bunny/horrible cat. Then again, I’ve never been one to care much about floors. To me, the color matters and I like something that looks like wood, but I really couldn’t care less if there are scratches – it’s just what I walk on =)
