My only recommendation is to be detailed if you're describing specialty ingredients (such as the kind that might be picked up in an Asian grocery store). My current Korean and Thai cookbooks always leave me hunting around Asian food stores for the proper pastes/powders/flakes, which all have labels I can't read, and I'm never quite sure what I'm asking the store personnel for.
