Have you ever opened a pomegranate and then ended up looking like you were bleeding all over? committed murder? Well, here’s the easiest way to open a pomegranate without making a big mess.

LOVE IT! I’ve so had bad drama with opening pomegranates! Also have had issues in the past few years of picking ones that when i got them home were rotten inside.
Sigh.
Luckily costco has a 4 pack of seeded in the cold section! Woot!
But now that i can stay clean, maybe i’ll try again!
If you want to preserve the integrity of your seeds, slice a little round off the top first. That lets you see the areas where the segments are separated. If you run your knife along the sides, following the segments, you can open it like a flower, and avoid cutting into any seeds.

There’s a far easier way–cut the pomegranate in half and cup one half in your hand (cut-side facing your palm, and down) while you tap the skin side on top with a wooden spoon. The seeds come out very easily.
