I happened to buy grappa last night and am looking for something to make for dinner, and lo and behold, you have something on grappa too! But that's only background to let you know, over three years after you posted this page, that I've lived all over the U.S. and am pretty sure that dipping fries in ice cream is at least a country-wide favorite (particularly Wendy's fries in their chocolate Frosty). Go to a local restaurant salad bar and use their beets (often shredded!)... and the blue cheese dressing in restaurants is often amazing! another one I like is mayo on asparagus out of a room temperature can! Buy the long ones, and you can dip em in the mayo! (NOT Salad Dressing!... REAL mayonaise!)
