San Francisco Book Signing & Events

by SteamyKitchen on November 6, 2009 · 28 comments

I’m currently in San Francisco (yay!) and this afternoon, I’ll be cooking live on View From the Bay which is also streamed live online. It’s on at 3-4pm and I think the cooking segment is on towards the end of the hour.

Then tonight I’ll be at Omnivore Books from 6pm-7pm with a quick talk, booksigning and jackpot giveaway from my tour sponsors, Scanpan, Chefs Catalog, Earthy and MacSpeech.

Tomorrow (Saturday) I’ll be spending some time with the good people over at Foodbuzz and will be at the Metreon for book signing 2pm to 3:30pm.

Saturday night is a cooking class at Sur La Table in Union Square 6:30pm. We’ll be making this:

I Love L.A.

I’ve just come back from Los Angeles where the highlight of my trip was walking into a Barnes & Noble hand-in-hand with my Mom and showing her the Steamy Kitchen Cookbook on the shelf. I had the camera all ready to capture the moment, gave it to Dad and the moment he was JUST about to depress the trigger finger, the manager walked by and said no-no to cameras in the store. Party pooper.

I also taught at Sur La Table in Los Angeles…my first class at my favorite splurge store. Not knowing what to expect, I arrived 2 hours prior to start of class ready to start prepping and working to get the class ready. When I arrived in the LA store, there was a kitchen staff of 4 already at work, prepping everything!

I wanna bring them home!

Wonderful class, fantastic food and lots of laughs.

Got to hang with fun people like Jenny Kayano and Rachael of La Fuji Mama

Then there was this party that my very very favorite people in the world threw for me….but that’s for another post….

Are you kidding? That manager was a dolt! He should have played it up, drawn a little attention and maybe some of the other customers would have made an impulse purchase of the SK book just because they found you were there. No book signing for that store, pbbbbbbttt! ;)

So happy to see all of your success! I wish I lived in California and could go to one of your appearances. It’s especially sweet that you get to share these moments with family. Enjoy!

Didn’t get a chance until now to tell you that I saw you on the Today Show and we great. I remembered some of my daily blogs I read semi-daily (lack of time, you understand) followed you. I looked you up and will be getting your cookbook tomorrow at B & N. Can’t wait to try your recipes, we love anything with an Asian flair at this house. Hot isn’t bad either. Looking forward to cooking those burgers. Stay safe while on the road.

It was really good to meet you on Friday :) I feel like such a shy goofus. I expected to meet you on Thursday at Omnivore Books and got the day wrong. Please disregard the look I had on Friday and me spilling some of that delicious pomegranate concoction all over the floor. I was a mess!

I can’t imagine why a bookstore manager would not let an author take pics with her book. What a dolt. You, however, are awesome. Wish I could have joined you for the SurLaTable class in SF!

HI Jaden!

Congratulations!
I saw your cookbook at Barnes and Noble and I became an instant fan. I couldn’t put the cookbook down. As soon as I got home, I checked your website, and I’m loving it all the more!

I started my food blog upon the proddings of my brother but beleve me i had so much hesitations… but after “knowing” you I got inspired. I’m so thrilled to find someone like you out there. I feel like I found a friend… in the (food)blogospher.
I hope you don’t mind but I’m sharing my link here http://www.impromptudiva.com/.
Again, congratulations, you are a star!
