Just a photo today…no recipe. I’m teaching a hands-on sushi class next Thursday. If you are in the Sarasota Florida area and want to learn how to make sushi, this is such a fun class….lots of sake & sushi! We’ll learn how to host your own maki-sushi party at home for your friends. On the menu: Ginger-Miso Soup Blue Crab & Avocado Roll Spicy Tuna-Unagi Roll with Chilli Tobiko Lobster, Mango & Asparagus Roll Spicy Tuna Handroll Baked Shrimp & Scallops Roll

Can you come on down to the Bay Area? Do a Jaden’s Weekend Getaway or something :)

SteamyKitchen May 11, 2007 at 12:17 am

Funny you should say that Sim, I’m coming to CA next month with my youngest son to visit Mom! L.A. though, not Bay Area. Was up in SF in February. I come back “home” often so I’ll email you when I get back to SF!

Oh ho ho… if you are in Orange County, LA, you can arrange to meet Rasa Malaysia and her whole jing gang of blogger friends.
Oh…and “home” is SF? Nice… :)

Oooh I’d love to come to your class, if only I wasn’t on the other side of the country. :( Unagi rolls are my absolute favorite maki rolls. Yummy! :D

My husband gave me your article from the newspapaer. I saw your picture and I remembered that you might be the person that I bought the beads from in your garage sale. If you’re not, I apologize for mistaking of you as that person.

Anyway, since then I’ve gone to your website almost everyday. I love your site, the pictures of food are so beautiful and you are so personal in your writing. You’re teaching the class next Thursday, is it at the Chef’s Table on Cooper Creek? If so, is it a hands-on class and is it full yet?. Last time I went to one of the class there (healthy cooking), and the class was not hands-on. I don’t really care for it because I can just read the recipes on my own without going to the class.

Please let me know about your class. Thank you.

Hi there – yes I remember you at the garage sale. Does your daughter enjoy making jewelry with the beads?

Yes, the class is hands on. Call Chef’s Table at 360-0007 to sign up. I limit it to 12 people, so make sure you call early!

Looks very yummy! Can you come to UK and teach me? :)

SteamyKitchen May 14, 2007 at 4:38 pm

Mae- ok! I’ll jump on my lear jet and see you in a few hours!

Wanlee May 16, 2007 at 11:33 am

Hi Jaden,

I called Chef’s Table and they said they are about 20 people already enrolled in your cooking class. Will you have another class scheduled with the same or similar sushi menu.

BTW, my daughter loves the beads. She made one piece of jewelry so far. She’ll need to take classes to learn different techniques. Do you have any places you can recommend? Thank you so much for your generosity in your sale.

Hi Wanlee & C Morrell – I’ll email you next month’s schedule. I’ll probably do a sushi class next month on the 7th. Will let you know in a couple of days.

Dear Jaden,

Your sushi is unique and beautiful. I know how to wrap a sushi by placing rice and fillings on top of seaweed. From your photo it looks like you wrap seaweed inside your rice. That method is more complicated. I would love to master that skill.

We will be in Longboat Key (Sarasota) area 2nd & 3rd week of May 2008. Any chances of a sushi rolling class like above during that time?

Patti Duncan March 30, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Any sush classes for May 08 in Sarasota area?

Patti Duncan April 26, 2008 at 4:17 pm

Hi Jaden – thought I would try one last time, I called several more times to the restaurant for the May 15th sushi class to no avail. The manager won’t return phone calls or email. Any chance to get in still for 2?
Thanks, Patti Duncan
