Doodlepad gone mad

This is what happens whenkids with wild imaginations learn to draw stick figures. The one on the right was drawn by Nathan…he says, “Daddy has long legs!”

And then Andrew drew me. All these years of changing diapers, nurturing, feeding, loving, encouragement, teaching, PATIENCE…and all he sees in me is 2 tits the size of beach balls!?!?!

I love it.

come see what my sister-in-blog, Veronica, is making….

Petites Bouchees

My sister-in-blog, Veronica of Veronica’s Test Kitchen, just opened her shop! Over at Petites Bouchees, Veron is selling the most decadent macarons, financiers and mini cupcakes! My dear friends, if you can hop on over there and support her new adventure, I would be most grateful! She can ship direct to you.

Two weeks ago, I got a nice little box of macarons from Veron. When I opened the box, the precious macarons were perfectly packed with lots of padding and a cool pack. The cream filling inside the macaron was still cool!

Anyways, I’m sending my love over to Veronica for being such a wonderful blog-sister.

A Tribute to Pedatha

A couple of months ago, authors Jigyasa Giri & Pratibha Jain sent me their cookbook, called Cooking with Pedatha. The book won the Best Vegetarian Cookbook in the World award by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Pedatha (Subhadra Krishna Rau Parigi) is the oldest offspring of former President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. V.V. Giri and Smt. Saraswathi Bai Giri.

Yes, the book is a cookbook, full of vegetarian recipes. But it’s much more than that. This is preservation of family recipes, stories, wisdom and memories from then-85yr old Pedatha. Sadly, she passed away a few weeks ago on February 20th.

Come pay tribute a beautiful mother, sister, daughter and legend by visiting the author’s website or see her book at Amazon. Each recipe has a color photo and the book is full of healthy vegetarian chutneys, spice mixes and pickles.

I wonder what your kids will think of the many chronic visitors to Steamy Kitchen, when they get older. Pseudo-uncles and artificial aunts?
