Crispy Tofu with Citrus Soy + Steamy Kitchen on TV

Steamy Kitchen on ABC7

Last month’s appearance on ABC kinda snuck up on me - I didn’t have time to solicit votes on which blogger dish to cook! Sorry about that, I ended up making Rice & Noodle’s Firecracker Shrimp, a dish that I can practically make in my sleep. Well, I practically cooked it in my sleep - as I had to wake up at 4:00am to get to the station by 5:30am to be on-air at 6:40am. WHEW!

I’m getting better and better each time I go on. There are so many things to remember when you are cooking live on-air - including looking pretty, sounding intelligent, not cutting my fingers off, not burning the food, timing, pacing, not being nervous, more timing (it’s not like they can cut a news story just so I can finish my damn Firecracker Shrimp!), smiling and LOOKING AT THE CAMERA (ahem.).

1. In a small bowl, combine ginger, garlic, soy, hoisin, sesame oil, and egg.

3. Add the liquid ingredients to the salmon mixture. Shape the salmon into 4 burger patties. Carefully dredge each burger in the remaining Panko.

4. Cover and refrigerate burgers for at least 1 hour up to 4 hours. 5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Heat oil in a non-stick fry pan over medium heat. Fry burgers (don’t overcrowd!) 2 minutes on first side, Turn. Fry second side 1 minute. Brush a small amount of Hoisin on the tops of the burgers. 6. Bake in oven for 3 minutes, or until cooked through. If you like your salmon medium rare, only bake for 2 minutes. Serve with buns, lettuce, tomato slices.

Crispy Crepes with Apple, Brie and Prosciutto

How to Sharpen Your Knives

How to Sharpen Your Knives

It took me 12 years of spending money on different knives before I finally found my soul mate and fell into a steady groove with the collection that I own now.
