Vietnamese Home Cooking by Charles Phan – Chef Charles Phan runs two of the most famous modern Vietnamese restaurants in America. He’s a multiple award winning chef and author. This book features home cooking, recipes that he cooks for his friends and family, outside of the busy restaurant.

Into the Vietnamese Kitchen: Treasured Foodways, Modern Flavors by Andrea Nguyen – This is my go-to Vietnamese cookbook for recipes that are truly authentic, but still easy enough for the home cook. All of the recipes are spot-on.

Secrets of the Red Lantern: Stories and Vietnamese Recipes from the Heart by Pauline Nguyen – This is a book that I absolutely adore, it’s a book I like to cuddle with and savor over every single page. It’s beautifully detailed, gorgeous. I love giving this book as a gift. Here’s a recipe from the book for Vietnamese Fried Spring Rolls.

Lucky Peach Pho Issue – This ultra modern cooking magazine (quarterly) isn’t for everyone. The best way to describe: it’s like sitting enjohing with a few beers with a chef. The issues are single-subject, and this one about Pho is an engrossing read. Learn about the history, culture, recipes for Vietnamese Pho from a variety of chefs and experts.
