Ground Beef in the Microwave

Ground beef is a great base for so many meals from Buddha Bowls, bolognese, to tacos, and so much more! Learn how to cook ground beef in the microwave in just a few minutes for a great protein all week long! 
This method is great for making the base of any hearty and healthy meal very quickly or when you don't have access to a stove top.

  • 1 lb. Ground Beef fresh or frozen


  • If ground beef is frozen, allow it to defrost in the fridge overnight.
  • Take the ground beef out of the packaging and place it in a microwave safe bowl or container.
  • Cover the plate with a microwave safe lid and microwave at 50% power for five minutes.
  • Remove the meat from the microwave and use a spatula or fork to break it up.
  • Put it back in the microwave and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes at 50% power.
  • Remove from the microwave and stir again. Continue cooking in 1-2 minute intervals, stirring in between, until there is no more pink left.
