I know you know my friend Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, right? Of course you know her! Ree one of my fav bloggers – she’s just as genuine, funny and gracious in person as she is on the blog. I’ve even spooned with her.
I can’t believe that I haven’t mentioned Ree’s latest adventure to you before, it’s simply addictive, fun and delicious…a site called Tasty Kitchen. And this is where you can find one of my must-try recipes, a Kickin’ Tequila Shrimp.
I recently made this dish on the Daytime Show and not only was it a massive hit with the host of the show (and me too), practically the entire camera crew came and hovered over the dish after we finished our segment.
What makes the Tequila Shrimp “kickin'” is the additional Tabasco Tequila – WOWZA!! Take a swig and that baby will kick you in ass! But when you cook with the Tabasco Tequila, it’s smooth and the spiciness mellows out.
Now, let me back up and say that I *don’t* drink tequila. Oh no, I learned my tequila shot lesson…oh…let’s say…in 1995 at a bar…errr…at the back of the bar. Enough said.
But, I lovelovelove to cook with tequila, and this Tequila Shrimp recipe is spot-on. So I’m excited to share the recipe with you – come view the video and then head over to Ree’s Tasty Kitchen site to get the recipe.
Jaden, what the touch of spicy tequila can do to produce a quick and tasty shrimp! Thanks for sharing.
Some things best in my life and this recipe is one of them. thanks for posting it.
This recipe is not only quick and easy but it is so delicious. My husband had me cook it twice in one week.
I used fresh Gulf shrimp for this one…seriously good stuff. Next time around I’ll add a bit more heat and less sour cream at the end. My expectation was big strong flavors but this was very friendly and tasty.
OOOOOO any dish that involves alcohol…we’re in!! This looks friggin’ killer! and easy right?? Thanks for the recipe….we’re gonna try it this weekend!
xoxo

Wow, these shrimp look fabulous! Fresh, healthy and delicious too. The tequila is a really nice touch. Thanks for sharing this great recipe.
this sounds lovely! I too have had more than my fair share of bad experiences with tequila. Now I’m to the point where I can’t hardly attempt to sip the stuff. but you’re right, cooking with it is good! this sounds wonderful!
Love the way this sounds! You won me over with the cooking with booze! Looks fantastic as well. I love pretty dishes! Can we sub the tequila wit spicy rum?
I just bought shrimps the other day! yeah to this awesome recipe!
gasp. I just had to comment…..this looks SO delicious, I’m going to have to go out and get a bottle just to make this shrimp! 🙂
Looks very good! I like the advice about searing. I am always so afraid of overcooking. I also like the yogurt. All of my sauces end up roux based or cream based, I’m in a rut.
Okay: I must state that I am still in ‘stalker shock’ that I was lucky enough to dine with and hang out with you and Ree. Dreams come true! I so hope to see you again soon. And, uh, Tequila Shrimp sounds amazing.
We love love love to drink tequila…oh, and cook with it too! There’s a recipe idea brewing now… 🙂
Mmmmm…….
This looks absolutely scrummy! Love tequilla and PW!
Came across your blog on tasty kitchen and I love it! What a great idea and fun life you have. 🙂
nice to meet you too Jessica!
my life is fun most of the time….exception is laundry/ironing days 😉 jaden
Oh I love Tasty Kitchen! This recipe looks amazing as usual. Thanks Jaden. Why does everyone have a “tequila story”? Just bring up the word and people start looking sideways, shuffling their feet, just waiting for someone else to tell their story first. You just know any story will not have a happy ending.
Love “Tasty Kitchen”, love P.W. and LOVE the looks of this recipe. I must try – the Tequila is in hand 🙂
BTW, I have followed your fried rice recipe/instruction and finally nailed it thanks to you. After years of making fried rice flops – my fried rice now ROCKS!!
I love cooking with tequila!
I found a site that has wine reviews, so you can choose the best wine to cook with or go with your dinner. Click on my name for the site if you’re interested.
Tequila really brings a nice flavor to the food, I find.
Keep writing awesome posts like this and I’ll keep you on my blogroll!!

This looks wondrous – we are eating low-carb, but (oddly enough) we prefer food with flavor, and this is perfect. Maybe over some quinoa or low-carb pasta. Thanks also for the “Tasty Kitchen” tip. I may just get lost over there…..
you will definitely get lost at Tasty Kitchen! jaden
I recently tasted a jalapeno tequila that packed serious bite. Now I have a reason to track it down. Great looking and sounding recipe.
Jalapeno tequila!!! I must try! bet it would be great in this dish too ~j
I think everyone has a tequila story 😉 But cooking with tequila sounds great…this shrimps sound delicious! Will head over to Ree’s site for the recipe 🙂
That looks amazing Jaden and judging by the little video… it’s easy to make too! Now I only have to get my hands on a bottle of spicy tequila… somewhere…
Ooh–love shrimp! Yours looks wonderful.
This looks awesome! I’ve just recently started to enjoy shrimp, so this one will definitely have to be tested out! As always…YUM!! 🙂
If there’s any left, I’d LOVE some! YUMMMMMMMMMY!
Hehehehe, oh man. I have a tequila story kind of like that, too. But yeah, I still love to cook with the stuff. And holy mackerel, this looks fabulous!
Cheers!

Oh, yum. I want to try this theme with the bacon (yes, bacon) vodka I bought on a whim (because, hey, bacon vodka). Thus far I’ve only tried it in (pretty darned tasty) Bloody Marys, but it just screams to be used as a culinary ingredient.
Yum! I am currently going through a totally shrimp phase so I will have to try these.
great shrimp recipe! we’ll have to try this. we can’t get enough of shrimp recipes and just made Tom Rang Muoi- Vietnamese salt and pepper shrimp.
Oh Jaden… it’s not serious this tequila in your kitchen cupboard!!! only for cooking? Do you want to prepare two margaritas, for you and me!!! Cheers!!!
