As Steamy Kitchen approaches nearly 2 decades of being around, it’s crazy to think that I’ve been doing this almost as long as blogging has been a thing. And even moreso, that some of you have been following my journey since the early stages of Steamy! (Whenever you joined on, know that I appreciate you.)
And when I think back, I have literally thousands of memories that stand out in my mind. Beautiful moments. Incredible accomplishments. Amazing people. The list goes on and on.
To celebrate Steamy being legally an adult (but still not old enough to drink), I thought it would be fun to take a look back and reflect on some of my favorite moments along the way. Let’s dive into some beloved Steamy throwbacks.
When We Were New At Everything
When Steamy first started, I wasn’t quite as digitally-savvy as I am these days. I had to teach myself how to blog, how to self-publish cookbooks, how to get good on camera, and of course, how to photograph food! It was a LOT of learning, but I made it happen! Here’s my initial setup before I realized that natural light is the best light you can get for food photography.
When We Were Growing Our Own Food
If you’ve been around long enough, you might remember when Steamy had its own hydroponic garden and chickens who laid fresh eggs! Here are some photos of my kids with some of the best parts of our sustainable lifestyle.
When We Used to Throw Parties With Ree & Elise
In the early days of blogging, Ree of The Pioneer Woman, Elise of Simply Recipes, and I used to get together at functions and events, and though we couldn’t be more different personality-wise, we were like the Charlie’s Angels of food blogging. Eventually we realized we all had a desire to host huge parties, so that’s what we decided to do! And they were always a great time!
It’s amazing to think of how much we’ve each grown since.
When Steamy Wrote a Book!
One of Steamy’s BIGGEST milestones was writing the Steamy Kitchen Cookbook. That was such an amazing experience! Here I am at my very first ever book signing, and prepping to do a segment for The Today Show.
When We Got To Hang with Jewel & David Tutera
In 2011, Hallmark asked singer Jewel, wedding guru David Tutera and me to hang out for the day and share some holiday ideas at Jewel’s ranch in Texas, and I still pinch myself whenever I remember this. Did that REALLY HAPPEN?? Yes! It did!
When Steamy Got Its Own Bowls
Our signature Buddha Bowl got its start in 2020 with the help of artist Aneela Dias-D’Sousa, who sculpted each amazing bowl by hand! These beautiful bowls have been one of my top favorite parts of our brand, and they get used almost daily at my house.
What Are Your Favorite Steamy Kitchen Memories?
What about you? Do you have any favorite moments in Steamy Kitchen history? If so, we’d love to hear all about them! Be sure to leave a comment below. And, as always, thank you so much for being a part of this journey with me. I couldn’t have done it without your love and support.
Would put towards workbooks for my hubby if I won this prize. Thx for chance!
Congratulations on Steamy Kitchen’s 20 year anniversary!
