Just when I thought Steamy Kitchen would be without this recording of a convo I had with superstar Chef Ming Tsai on the phone , the fabuleux Lenny of Chez Us came to my rescue and helped me put up the recording!
Here are the highlights of my chat with Chef Ming Tsai:
(0:01) I had made one of his recipes, Duck Breast with Sweet and Sour Cranberry Chutney
(1:53) Obession with duck fat + secrets to cooking duck
(8.00) How to tell temperature of meat w/o a thermometer
(9:12) Ming shot all his own photography for his cookbook
(11:01) My big crush on him (BLUSH). I was so nervous on the call that I sounded like a total idiot. blebhblehbllllleb.ihaveacelebritycrushonyou.bbleb.
(11:30) And Ming reveals who which celebrity he has a crush on!!!
(17:50) What he’s making for Christmas dinner (can YOU guess?)
(12:00) Ming’s recommendation for great holiday presents
I am so jealous…… 🙂
Thanks for the podcast! As I also was raised in Dayton, OH,(and because he is SO cute!) I have always loved Ming Tsai and have watched his TV appearances for years. Great interview, and you both have totally convinced me to try the duck breast recipe. Thanks again!
i used to watch his east meets west too… great interview, jaden… 🙂
Jaden:
Ming was one of my inspirations in cooking school. I used to love his East meets West shows on the food network. I am sure that it was a great experience speaking to him. Did you happen to get his camera stats from him?
Thank you for the wonderful post!
GREAT Podcast! 😉 And don’t you love duck fat – I LOVE IT! I fry potatoes in it when I am hungry for the potato thing – YUM!!
*sigh* I’ve crushed on Ming Tsai since watching him in East Meets West on the Food Network. Great interview Jaden! One question on the duck – he mentioned non-stick and all-clad type pans. Can I use my trusty cast iron?
If you would have asked which “food blogger” that Ming Tsai has a crush on, he would have been screaming “Steamy Kitchen, she is a gorgeous goddess,” at the top of his lungs! And he would have said my name, as a runner-up.
ZOMG MING TSAI SIGN MY BABY
You’re too funny. You should have photoshopped “drool” dripping out of your mouth, LOL! :-O…….
Great interview with Ming Tsai! You came across so cute. Loved it!
I’m green with envy…I’ve always enjoyed watching Ming Tsai on t.v.! I have his cookbook too!
I almost didn’t recognize him with the longer hair. Frankly, I think he needs a hair cut in that picture. I’m not lovin’ it so much. However, that being said, he’s still a hottie…and he’s a fabulous chef!
Ming is totally yummy 😉 Have a wonderful Christmukkah Jaden!!!!
One word! Hilarious! I can’t believed it, you actually told him about your crush on him! At that moment, you sounded like a teenager! And.. he was so cool about it! What a gentleman! 🙂
I’m not afraid to say it, but I’ve always had a crush on Ming. I’m actually waiting for Simply Ming to show up on the tv in a few minutes. Is it me, or does Ming’s hairstyle seem to change every week?
The interview was great Jayden, I’m definitely more inclined now to check out his new Master Recipes book.
I think I have man crush on Ming Tsai now.
You are hilarious and he really sounds like a nice person, maybe he’ll become my second celebrity crush (you were the first)!
After that great Ming Tsai interview, I bet you couldn’t recall everything . . . comes with the territory and now I understand your headline.
We are so going to have a fight in the parking lot… lol Again, He is #1 on my top chef to do… so ya’ll back out
oh I just picked up the phone and called his PR manager to see if I could chat w/him and record a podcast!
wanted to cook a recipe from his cookbook that you guys would love to make for holiday dinner. he was so gracious!
I wish you and your family a Merry XMas!
I can scratch your eyes out!!! Ming Tsai is mine you hear me? MINE!
I don’t just love his food, I love HIM!
Happy Holidays to the whole Steamy household!
