Hello Steamy fam!
You know I like to keep you updated on the best of the best. Recently, we did a review of Gourmia’s GAF824 8-Quart Digital Air Fryer, and (spoiler alert) I absolutely LOVED it, specifically for its 8-quart basket, digital touch controls, user-friendliness, and durable design.

I’ve been traveling a ton lately for work and have to spend a lot of time in an RV, and if you know anything about RVs, you know there’s limited room. I was considering getting another air fryer to cook healthy meals while on the road, but the thought of hauling a big, clunky air fryer around, especially when I already have very limited counter space, didn’t sound optimal. Then I stumbled upon Gourmia’s latest air fryer, and wouldn’t ya know, it’s so much smaller, but with the same cooking capacity! A travel-sized air fryer from a brand I trust? I had to have it.

Of course, you know whenever I get a new do-dad, I have to share my experience with you. So let’s talk about Gourmia’s GAF858 8-Quart Digital Air Fryer.

  • Guided Cooking Prompts: This air fryer boasts an optional preheat function and even tells you when to add your food and when to flip your food! Its ease of use and helpful display messages ensure you don’t ever have to deal with the guesswork of air frying again.
  • Window & Light: I don’t know about you, but I like to peek in on my food as it cooks, and the window and light on this digital air fryer allow me to do just that.
  • Multi-purpose Rack: This model comes with a super helpful multi-purpose rack, and gives you the ability to take advantage of the 8-quart space by create a two-tiered cooking setup!
  • Dishwasher-Safe Parts: The non-stick basket, crisper tray, and multi-purpose rack are all dishwasher safe for easy clean-up.

Some of My Favorite Things About This Air Fryer

Let’s talk about some of the reasons why I love this air fryer.

Pros:

Large Basket: While this Gourmia air fryer is more compact on the outside, the inside maintains its roominess with a full 8-quart basket.

A side by side comparison of the Gourmia GAF858 and GAF824 baskets.

Sleek Design & Durability: I love that this air fryer doesn’t feel plasticky in any way. It looks great and feels like it’s going to last you a while. The LCD screen is even more vibrant than its larger counterpart, and its digital controls are intuitive and easy to access. When I need to make fries or reheat something, I usually press 3 buttons MAX. You don’t have to be tech-savvy to navigate this little machine. The pre-programmed cook modes make it really easy to work with.

The Sounds: I know this is a weird thing to complain about, but just hear me out. One thing that I have long hated about air fryers is the volume and tone of their audio alerts. One previous air fryer I had was so loud and high-pitched when it was done cooking, that I hated being around it. You could hear it from anywhere in the house, and there was no way to turn it down!

The last Gourmia air fryer I reviewed was much better about this. The volume and tone were definitely more tolerable. But nothing beats the GAF858 air fryer we’re talking about today. It’s not just tolerable, it’s actually pleasant! It plays a short little jingle each time it’s done or you turn it off, similar to one of those smart washing machines, which is actually easy on the ears.

The Gourmia GAF858 is smaller than the GAF824, but just as big on the inside.

No Need for Oil: Because of Gourmia’s FryForce 360 technology and the circulation of super-heated air, you don’t need to use any oil to achieve crispy perfection! And less oil means fewer calories. So you can consider this air fryer your partner in healthy cooking.

Two-Tiered Cooking!: You have no idea how excited I was to see the multi-purpose rack upon first unboxing. If I had a nickel for every time I wanted to cook a side in the air fryer, and then realized I already have my main course in there… well, I’d have a lot of nickels. But NOW, I can cook one thing on the crisper tray, and one thing right above it! This is such a game-changer!

Hassle-Free Cleanup: I find it rather amazing that you get all of this AND a dishwasher-safe basket, crisper tray, and multi-purpose rack. It seems like something you would have to hand wash, but no. You can just pop these parts right in the dishwasher! Gourmia truly knows how to make my life easier.

Cons:

gourmia cord storage

The Cord Storage: There was only one thing I struggled with when it came to this air fryer, and it was the additional cord storage. The part comes separately in the box, and you are meant to line up the holes in the back of the air fryer with the pegs of the piece, and then snap them together. Once this piece is attached, you can wrap any extra cord length you have around it for a neat and tidy look.

However, I struggled with this piece for a full 15 minutes, and was not able to get it connected to the air fryer. It was almost as if the pegs and the holes did not quite line up, and instead of snapping into place, the back of the air fryer would give and bend. I didn’t want to force anything, and it’s not something I’ve ever had with previous air fryers, so I didn’t feel like I was missing out by it not being attached. That was the only con I experienced with this air fryer, and it was such a miniscule inconvenience.
