Friends, we need your help. Meet Lorenzo and his sweet family.

They lost everything.  Lorenzo Marquez Trespalacios, his wife Cecile Diederichs de Marquez and their five small children, including their 3 month old baby were rescued by boat and kayak in a harrowing effort by wonderful folks during Hurricane Harvey on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

Everything is lost-home, cars, clothes, all posessions large and small, heirlooms and necessities. Everything is needed and it is doubtful that insurance will cover their loss due to flood – not direct hurricane wind damage.

“I’m broken”, Lorenzo said. He and Cecile made desperate pleas to be rescued on Facebook and finally a good samaritan came with a boat and a family member with a kayak, to save them and their five children. They are grateful to be alive.

The family has been evacuated, and are currently living with relatives until they can find a more permanent solution. As of a few of days ago, their home was still under 3 feet of water, and only accessible by boat.

My friend, Susan Serra, started a Go Fund Me for Lorenzo. The much needed funds will help his family rebuild their lives, from buying baby diapers, clothes for the kids, finding a new home and even trips back to the flooded house to salvage what they can.

How I know Lorenzo: Three years ago, Lorenzo personally helped us remodel our kitchen, with a very generous gift of Dekton countertops. Lorenzo is the 2017 National Chairman of the National Kitchen and Bath Association and is very well known in the United States interior design community.

How I know Susan Serra: The organizer of the Go Fund Me is a personal friend of mine. I’ve known Susan for over 8 years! Susan is a kitchen designer based in New York City.

She even flew down to Florida for a 4-hour trip just to help me take measurements of my kitchen!

Susan is an award-winning kitchen designer – read more about her here.
