In the summer, our two big dogs get baths by jumping into the swimming pool. Tennis balls are thrown in the water over and over again – the activity serves double duty – exercise and baths.
Unfortunately, in the late Fall, the water gets too cold. Brisk walks = exercise, and bathing the dogs in the bathtub is the dreaded chore. It’s a BIG mess and always ends with me in the bathtub scrubbing dog hair off the tiles.

We quickly tested the unit (didn’t have time to fully install it outside — we’re in the middle of landscape project and will wait until all of the yard is finished before installing). The unit is powered by 2 D batteries. We hooked it up to our garden hose and our BBQ propane tank.

To operate, the heater connects to a standard garden hose nozzle and propane tank (tank not included). Simply turn on the tap–the heater produces hot water within seconds–and set the temperature to a comfortable level. Choose from multiple spray settings to select your preferred water pressure. The heater provides a temperature range of 80 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, starting at a .5 gallons per minute (GPM) flow rate and going up to 1.4 GPM. After 20 minutes, the water heater shuts off automatically for added peace of mind.
Battery-Operated for Use Off the Grid
Because the heater’s flame ignites by battery, the Eccotemp is a handy backup water source when electricity is not readily available, making it ideal for use in emergency situations, as well as on camping trips. The heater requires two D-cell batteries (not included). The unit requires a minimum of 20 PSI of water pressure and maximum of 100 PSI.
